My Fascination With Jayne Mansfield.

I have always been intrigued by the glamorous actresses of old Hollywood. Maybe because back then you needed just the right combination of real talent, amazing looks, a brain, numerous husbands and a mountain of scandal to make it to the silver screen. In particular, I adore pin up stars and how their bodies were so womanly and curvacious in contrast to the junkie looking, rake thin, 12 year old boy bodies that are considered beautiful today. Yes, the 50s and 60s were fascinating to say the very least.


Jayne Mansfield.


Although I must admit that I am a Marilyn Monroe fan through & through (I literally have several pictures of her on my walls and quite a few books), this blonde bombshell definitely makes a close second in my blonde sexy symbol list.


Like Marilyn she was extremely provocative, married more than twice, died tragically and will be forever remembered. 


In brief, Jayne had her first child when she was 17 and had 4 more after that, was married 3 times and had many, many affairs. She died in a horrific automobile accident with her married lover (who also died) and her three children (who all survived) at the age of 36. Upon reading her biographies she seemed like an eccentric, rule breaking and free spirited woman who loved to cause a stir by flashing her nipples (literally) when she knew the cameras were rolling. She was also the first mainstream star to appear nude in a motion picture, so put that in your pipe and smoke it! Here are some (ok, a lot) of my favorite pictures of her.

One last interesting fact, guess who her daughter is? I'm sure you will recognize this face from Law & Order - its Mariska Hargitay!
