Yesterday was an extremely sad day for the world of television, as the queen of the talk show screen bid her goodbye to the Oprah Winfrey show. The show is embedded into western culture, I have memories of me at 5 or 6 years old watching the show (she had much crazier hurr back then) and it has undoubtedly become part of many women’s (and men’s apparently) daily routine. People all around the world will now have this afternoon television void to fill.
The first name that jumped to mind was Ellen Degeneres. Sure, in most ways they are like chalk and cheese in a lot of ways and are no way similar in personality but the viewers have to go somewhere right? Ellen is absolutely hilarious, entertaining from start to finish of her show and can also pull a lot of the big names that Oprah did. It will be interesting to see if the end of Oprah increases Ellen’s popularity or not. What do you guys think?
